The Englewood Independent has been the newspaper of record for Englewood, Clayton, Union, Phillipsburg, and Clay Township since 1975.
The Englewood Independent is part of internet news Media, a new and dynamic company that has transformed from a traditional local newspaper company to a multi-channel local information company.
Civitas Media was formed in 2012 and brought together four media entities formerly known as Heartland Publications, Freedom Central, Impressions Media, and Ohio Community Media. Civitas, which employs over 1400 associates across 11 states including North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee, publishes 35 daily, 28 weekend editions and 63 weekly publications for a combined circulation of over 1.6 million.
Prior to the formation of Civitas Media, the Englewood Independent was part of Ohio Community Media, which emerged from the former Brown Publishing Company. Prior to that, the Drummer was part of the Bowling-Moorman Company.
