Authorities arrested a man early Sunday morning after he allegedly stabbed two women and injured a child, according to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded just after 2 a.m. to the 1100 block of Rutledge Landing Drive. When they arrived, they found two women suffering from stab wounds. Both were transported to a hospital; one woman has life-threatening injuries, while the other sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A child was also assaulted during the incident but was not stabbed, officials said. The child was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
The suspect, identified as Steve Tant, 42, returned to the scene and crashed into a Knightdale police car. Deputies arrested him and transported him to the Wake County Detention Center.
Tant faces multiple charges, including two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault on a child under 12, and assault with a deadly weapon on a government official.
According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, Tant and the victims knew each other. Officials confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The investigation remains active.
